  • Samsung Continuum with two screens

    Samsung ContinuumSamsung yesterday held a press event in New York City, where many observers expected to see the new Nexus two smartphones being announced due to several alleged photos that have been circulating the internet, despite Samsung having already denying the rumors to be true. Now the event is over the Nexus 2 was nowhere to be seen but instead Samsung announced the Continuum will be the first smartphone to recieve two screens. The second, 1.8 “large secondary display will be located below the smartphone keys and will be for example usedto display Twitter and Facebook messages or the weather report. The other AMOLED Screen Samsung Continuum is 3.4 “tall.  The smartphone will be powered by a 1GHz processor.

  • PowerAmp first full version arrives

    PowerAMP Android AppEven in its beta version, PowerAmp the Android music player has had a rather impressive fan base (more than 50,000 downloads) many users already calling it the best music player on the Android Market. Now from today on the full version of the app is finally available on the Android Market. Also since the last beta version there have been several bugs fixes and some new features have been added in. The full version can be downloaded at the Android Market for $4.99.

  • Opera 10.1 Beta is released

    Opera Android BrowserAs announced a few days ago, yesterday Opera 1.10 was released on the Android Market. Our first impression of the app was good: Opera operates at a brisk speed, has a clever tab managment and features soft and zoom scroll movements. If the first impression is built upon, then Opera could advance to become a real browser option instead of Dolphin, Firefox and the default Android browser.

  • HTC planning its own App & eBookstore?

    HTCAccording to a report in the American edition of the Financial Times there could be in the future a seperate store from HTC that will work on applications and Ebooks. This would make HTC the second company sitting after the PC vendor Acer, to set up its own App Store. According to the Financial Times it was the logical step for HTC, reflecting on the stiff competition in the smartphone market at the moment. Especially due the pressure to differentiate themselves from competitors in the rapidly growing Android market.

    Evernote Android AppOnly yesterday, the new version of the Notepad app Evernote was released. The developers say that Evernote 2.0 is a major leap forward from recent times. Besides performance, many of the widgets have been revised. The most visible changes are to the Home screen, which now looks much tidier and clearer. There is a wealth of other new features that we will go over in the near future in a comprehensive review of Evernote 2.0.

  • Nexus One to soon run Gingerbread?

    An interesting tweet from Alvaro Fuentes of the Open Handset Alliance Nexus, announced that in the next few days an update to the latest version (Ginger Bread) for the Google Android phones will be available. It will be interesting to see whether the Nexus One is the very first smartphone to run Android 2.3.

  • Samsung: 40 million smartphones in 2011?

    Samsung Nexus 2The head of Samsungs mobile devision has announced recently in an interview that he expects 40 million smartphones to be sold in 2011.

    This number would be double the figures of 2010, reaching the 20 million mark. But if you look at what the Koreans have built this year, the above figures do not seem so far fetched.

But for the moment the games can only be obtained directly from their website.

  • LG Announces Optimus Tablet

    LGLG is soon to join the ranks of those who have released a tablet. The tablet is 8.9″ big, putting it size wise, in the middle catorgory,  between the Samsung Galaxy tab and the iPad.

    The graphics card is designed by NVIDIA and is used for rendering 3D games, also the LG Optimus Pad will make use of Android 3.0.

    Motorola Milestone 2Anyone interested in the sequel to the successful Milestone by Motorola should by now on the Amazon site.  You can already pre-order the it there with a new pull-out keyboard for the smartphone. Milestone 2 is set to be released on the 15.11. The Motorola Milestone 2 runs on Android 2.2 in addition to a 1 GHz processor on a 3.7 “touch screen, 16 GB internal memory and has a 5 megapixel camera. The Motorola Milestone costs 499,00 Euro without a contract.
