300,000 Android Devices Activated daily

Andy rubin a engineer from Google, has recently announced on his Twitter account that the daily number of newly activated Android devices has reached 300,000 per day. If you consider that in May 2010 the number of devices activated daily were only 100,000 per day, it shows a considerable jump in the number of users. This new figure is 10% more than the recent number Apple announced as their daily IOS activations.

Android 3.0 and Google Maps 5.0 Sneak Peek

In the “Dive into Mobile” conference, Andy Rubin made a small introduction to Android 3.0 (honeycomb). During the demonstration he used a prototype Motorola Motopad . The attending audience first saw a newly designed lock-screen. Andy Rubin then opened a new version of Google Maps, the new, showing off the new impressive 3D effects. Rubin explained to the users to a few more details about the improvements of Honeycomb, including a new display screen for the apps to launch a review of GMail. Android 3.0 (honeycomb) will be released in 2011, while the Motopad is currently set to be released in the 2nd Quarter of 2011.

Google Books has landed – in the U.S.

And on flows the good news out of Google headquarters. With google also announcing the opening of their eBook Store, named Google Books. The Android app is now available but at the moment only in the United States. It is not entirely clear when it will be released throughout the rest of the world, but it shouldnt be long before the rest of us can benefit from the new book store.

It is finally here. Over the last few days rumours had been circulating that the new Android 2.3 update would be released very soon and then less than 24 hours after the rumors started,boom! Android 2.3 landed. The new version promises many improvements to areas such as gaming with Android devices, bringing improved keyboard operation, improved power and task managment. Also new features as Internet phone calls and Near Field Communication, which enables users to use their Android device to pay for things. A video has recently appeared on Youtube of the Sony Ericsson Z1 Zeus ( also known as the PlayStation Smartphone) in action. Te device in the video is shown to be operating on Android 2.3(Ginger Bread). The resemblance this smartphone has to a PlayStation control is very obvious. All over the world new companies are springing up in the hope of developing new mobile content.
