  • Official Sony Playstation App Landing Soon

    Sony Europe have recently stated in their Blog, that the new Official Playstation App for Android Devices is soon to be released. But sadly only in Europe. Sony have announced a few features the first version will be shipped out with, for example users will have access to an achievement list, where they can see what achievements they have for whatever game they have been playing. In addition users will recieve the latest information on upcoming games which they can then share with their friends if they so wish.

  • Android 3.0 won’t need Physical Buttons

    Andy Rubin has stated in an interview at the Dive into Mobile Congress, that new Tablets that have the new Android 3.0 (honeycomb) operating system installed will not require any physical buttons. As all the necessary buttons will be included directly into the Honeycomb interface. Whether most manufacturers make use of this feature theough remains to be seen, it is assumed though that some will not change from their current design.

  • Facebook 1.5 brings Chat and Push Notifications

    Yet another app has recieved an update today on the Android Market, and that being the largest social networking app Facebook. The update to version 1.5 will fix a few bug problems that were present in the previous version as well as two functions that have been in high demand for some time now. Firstly, the Facebook Chat has finally made its way the Android device. Also Facebook has included the Push Notifications Service but sadly it only works with chat at the moment and is only available with Android 2.2.

  • Evernote Update brings Checklist Feature

    Evernote version 2.5 is now live and will introduce the long awaited feature of being able to create checklists. Which can be extremly helpful sometimes, with users being able to create to-do lists or a shopping list.  Whereas Springpad, Evernotes main competitor had alread introduced this a while ago.  But nevertheless the update also brings to the table an improved and simplified search funcion which uses a new filter.And finally rounding off the new update, the developers have also increased the speed of sychronization.

  • StrictMode helping App Development

    The recently released Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) not only has features in store for consumers (for example feautures like Near Field Communications) but it also has brings features to the table for developers. For example the newly introduced StrictMode feature,  which enables Apps to monitor their own performance. Thus helping developers to improve stability and the speed of their Apps.

  • Skype Update allows installation to SD Card

    The creators of Skype have recently launched a new version of its Android app onto the Android Market and it is bringing with it one of the most popular Android 2.2 (Froyo) features – namely the ability to install an app onto the SD card of Android device. Even though the Skype app itself is only 1MB it still handy to be able to store it directly onto your SD card to help provide this little bit more space, warding off problems with memory.

  • LG Star called in Korea the LG Optimus 2X

    Rumors that have been circulating for a while now, have now been officiallyconfirmed. LG will soon publish their first Android Smartphone with the Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core Processor and a HDMI port on the Korean Market. Formally known as the LG Star it will most likely be called something else in Asia, like LG Optimus 2X. Whether they will change the name of the smartphone once it is released to the rest of the world is not yet known. But it is to be released in 2011.

  • Nvidia Tegra 2: Processor of Choice for Tablets?

    It seems the Nvidia Tegra 2 is the new processor of choice for Tablet developers, as there are several manufacturers who are set to release Tablet devices running the Tegra 2 processor in 2011. Developers such as Acer, Asus, Samsung and Toshiba have all announced there devices will be using the Tegra 2 processor. Some analysts believe the Nvidia processor will be used in just under half of all newly released Tablets.

  • Growth rate to rise in App Downloads

    The International Data Corporation predicts that there will be a large increase in the number of apps being downloaded in the future, up from 11 million this year in 2010 to 75 million downloads in 2014. As reported by the U.S. magazine Mashable. Whilst at the same time they predict sales will climb to 35 billion euros. Market researchers expect an acceleration in growth as apps become more compatible with more devices such as Tablets, TV’s with Internet and other future devices.

    Android MarketA few days ago, Google announced over its Developers Blog that sometime within the next two weeks, there will be significant changes made to the Android Market (for all version from 1.6 and above). They also gave a sneak peek into how it will look with two screenshots of the new marketplace. A very useful addition, is that Widgets and wallpapers will soon have their own sections.
