Playstation Phone possibly called Xperia Play

The previously codenamed Z1 Zeus also known as the Playstation smartphone from Sony Ericsson, is rumored to be officially named the Xperia Play. As the company have recently registered the appropriate mark and Internet domain. It’s assumed that Android 2.3 (Ginger Bread) will be the smartphone operating system when it is released. It is currently believed to be released in April 2011.

Motorola Milestone: Android 2.2 update Delayed

No good news has been released from Motorola headquarters today, with them making an announcement over their Facebook page, that the Motorola Milestone update to Android 2.2 (Froyo) will be delayed from the end of 2010 to the first quarter of 2011. Which is a little upsetting as a newer version Android 2.3 (Ginger Bread) has already been released and their are delays on older updates. Once there is more news on the subject, you will be the first to know.

EA Mobile bring Monopoly to Android

As previously announced the Electronic Arts mobile division EA Mobile have recently started to roll out Games onto the Android Market, with a stream of announcements being made over their Twitter account. Classic Game Titles such as The Sims 3, Need for Speed: Shift, Tetris and FIFA 10 have all been released on the market in time for Christmas. Now EA Mobile have added to the list by throwing Monopoly and Bejeweled 2 into the mix, with both being released around Christmas.

Archos update their Tablet Firmware

Archos has today announced at a press release that they will be releasing a firmware update for both the Archos 7 Home Tablet and the Archos 10.1 Internet Tablet. The update will be automatic and will enhance the performance of both Tablets. If they keep to their word, Archos Tablet owners will have a nice little gift for Christmas waiting for them.

Android 2.2 update for HTC Wildfire Begins

Owners of the HTC Wildfire will find that Santa came early this year with HTC announcing over their Facebook page that they will be starting tp update Wildfire devices to Android 2.2 ( Froyo) this week. The update will bring all of the goodies associated with Froyo just in time for Christmas. The update will go live first in Europe than hitting the rest of the world, HTC has stated they plan to have all Wildfire smartphones updated to 2.2 by February next year.

Amazon updates Kindle to 2.0

It seems with the recent launch of Google Books and the announcement of the Sony Reader for december is keeping Amazon on their toes with Amazon updating its Kindle Android App to version 2.0. Bringing with it a few new features for users to make use of. Purchasing products can now be done directly over the app now and Newspapers and Magazines are now also offered over Kindle. Moreover, users can also zoom in and out on images and users with Android 2.2 can now store the app on their SD card.

The Sims 3 hits Android Market

The well-known game manufacturer Electronic Arts has joined the ranks of the many new providers of Android games. And only after a few days Need for Speed: Shift has already appeared on the Android Market, and now the Sims series has landed on the Market. Most people would have heard of these two big Titles previously if not played one of the games from the series, but for those of you who have been living under a rock. The Sims 3 places the player in a virtual world were he can create his alter ego and manage his everyday life in a beautifully crafted 3D world. Lets hope the increasing support for Game developers from Android lures even more big Titles onto the Android device.

Android 3.0 with a February Release date?

The whole Android Community has been eargerly waiting for the release of Android 3.0 otherwise knwon as Honeycomb for some time now. Shockingly rumors have recently surfaced that Honeycomb will be released as early as February next year. The interesting thing is that not only is the supposed release date only a few months after the release of Android 2.3 but the Android 3.0 is to be renamed to Android 2.4. Great news if its true! But for now we will have to wait and see. Fingers crossed for February!
