The Successor to Samsung Galaxy S at CES?

Several smartphone manufacturers have already announced they will be making unveilings of new Android Devices at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas. Samsung has announced the will be showing their new Samsung Galaxy Player. But the Korean Newspaper The Chosun Ilbo have stated that Samsung still has something up their sleeve for the CES, and plan to announce the successor of the Galaxy S. According to the newspaper the successor of the Galaxy S will be running on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), in addition to having a dual core processor.

Speedtest:Nexus S v iPhone 4

Even though it’s not the fairest test to compare the six month old iPhone 4 to the brand new Nexus S, their are still alot of people out there comparing the two. World’s Biggest Nexus S at 42″

The largest Android smartphone in the world is located in San Carlos, about 30 km from San Francisco. As the U.S. Web site Techcrunch reported the’ve had the staff at the local Best Buy electronics store a whopping 42-inch copy of Nexus S set in which both the camera and the Internet connection, are fully operational.

LG Optimus Tab at the CES 2011?

It seems like the CES 2011 in Las Vegas is going to be an enormous show, for Android. With Motorola and NEC already planning to unviel Android Devices at the event. After making an appearance at the IFA 2010 in Berlin it is also likely that the LG 8.9 “inch Optimus Pad will make an appearance in Nevada. The 8.9 “inch Optimus pad has an Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core processor and is supposed to run with Honeycomb (Android 2.4 or 3.0).

Dell Streak 7 Pictures Surface

The U.S. site Engadget has published an article about the upcoming Dell Streak 7 also with a few photos of the new 7 “inch Android Tablets by Dell. A promotional video is also in the works. Detailed information on the Streak 7 are now in short supply, however it is expected that Dell will in January at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas let the cat out of the bag.

Motorola Milestone XT720:No update to Froyo

After we reported last week that the update to Android 2.2 (Froyo) for the Motorola Milestone was delayed we have now found out that users of the Motorola Milestone XT720 will not be be recieving an update to Android 2.2. Sadly Motorola have announced over their own forum, it will receive no update. Which is surprising with most manufacturers over the past weeks announcing plenty of updates for older smartphones.

ADW Launcher EX hits Android Market

After a long time now, the popular Home Replacement App ADW Launcher, has finally released released its new ADW Launcher EX version. Which can now be downloaded from the Android Market. It includes a few exclusive features such as different ways to sort apps into folders, different transition animations for the homescreen, more icons and more. It’s a little dissapointing that the app isn’t free like the standard ADW Launcher, but with all the features it brings and improved performance it’s well worth the price. A short video below goes over some of the features the new ADW Launcher brings to the table.

Splinter Cell and Spiderman hits Android

Gameloft a mobile phone Game Developer has just released as many as 10 new titles for Android just before Christmas. Big names such as Splinter Cell: Conviction, Spider-Man: Total ayhem and Let’s Golf 2 are among those on the list. Unfortunately, the games are not yet available on the Android Market but are available to download via the official Gameloft online shop. Soon however these games will become available on the Android Market. A short video below introduces the new games that have been newly released for Android.

Android Market: New payment method available

Google has announced in their Developers Blog that customers of the US carrier AT&T can now use AT&T Direct Carrier Billing to pay for Android Market purchases. This is the latest of several updates to the Android Market. It started last week with a complete new layout and several new categories like Widgets and Wallpapers. And Google already announced that 2011 will be another year of Android experience improvement – sounds nice.

Firefox 4: 3rd beta released

Just in time for Christmas, Mozilla has released yet another beta version for the Android Firefox 4 browser. The update has fixed a few errors and a few existing features have been improved to an extent, whilst also throwing in some new features as well. Firefox can now play videos in full screen format and allows copy and paste commands in the address bar. It is currently expected that the full version of Firefox 4 will be released in the first quarter of 2011.
