Google Weather App: Glimps of what’s to come?
25. Januar 2011 No comments
In their own mobile blog, Google have published an article about their browser weather service and how the have created an “app-like” to check the weather. If the user types in weather in the google search engine, like previously it will show the weather forecast for the next few days. But it now has a slider which the user can use to check the weather over different times of the day, as well as wind speed and humidity. Now these new features for Googles browser weather service is all very good, but there are alot of people out there who would simply prefer a weather app instead of a web service. Is this a glimpse of what’s to come perhaps? Maybe they have something similar in the workings as an application. We’ll have to wait and see.Category: Android Apps, Google

With the LG Optimus 2X now landing in Korea, reports state that LG have also announced a white version to be released in February, with a picture of the white smartphone making the rounds on the web (as seen below). It’s always good to see manufacturers mixing it up with different colours, though it would be nice to see some other colours apart from black and white. But whether LG have plans to release this white version of the LG Optimus 2X worldwide or if they just release it in Korea is currently unknown.Category: Android Phones, LG

Possible Motorola Xoom Release Date and Price
24. Januar 2011 No comments
Several U.S. websites today reported that the new Android Tablet from Motorola, the Motorola Xoom would be released on the 17 of February in the U.S. But is it really going to be released so soon? It was only announced recently at the CES a few weeks ago it was previously expected to be released in March so February 17th isn’t such a far shot and hey if it comes sooner we’re not complaining. There are also reportings of the price of the new Tablet from Motorola, pricing it at $799. If this is the established price it does seem a little steep, if this is the actual price or not we’re not sure. On the release of the Motorola Xoom there is set to be various accessories to appear on sale along with it like headsets, docking stations and keyboards.

Angry Birds have announced their next addition with their Valentine’s Day Edition. Though Angry Birds is probably not the most fitting game for a loving theme, we’re not complaining, we get to play more Angry Birds. Those of you have knocked back the Halloween edition and the Christmas Edition will be looking forward to getting back into the action and helping the birds pay back those annoying pigs for stealing the birds eggs. The new version of Angry Birds is expected to be released early February onto the Android Market.

Galaxy Tab & Galaxy S: Q2 Gingerbread Update?
24. Januar 2011 No comments
There’s rumors circulating at the moment that Samsung’s flagship Android devices the Samsung Galaxy S and the Galaxy Tab are set to be updated early Q2 in 2011 to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The rumor started when the website SamFirmwares recently stated over their Twitter account that the update would be coming in Q2. Now this would be great news if the rumor proves to be true, but it is yet to be officially confirmed and we’re not holding our breath. Samsung took its time with updating everyone to Android 2.2 (Froyo), it will most likely be the same for Android 2.3 as well.

New Toshiba Tablet with Honeycomb
24. Januar 2011 No comments
Toshiba have released a video of their new Android Tablet which is supposed to run on Android 3.0 (see below). The device will also come powered with a Nvidia Tegra 2 Processor, plus HDMI and USB ports. The display size is to be 10.1 inches at 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, with a 5 megapixel rear facing camera which will be complemented by a 2-megapixel front facing camera. In the video, Toshiba couldn’t resist at taking a little jab at the Apple iPad, by declaring it had Flash support (which the iPad doesn’t have). But many of us still remember the Toshiba debut to Android Tablets with the Toshiba Folio 100, which really crashed and burned! With it having no access to the Android Market, a poor display and plenty of bugs. Hopefully Toshiba have learnt from this mistake. So far all seems well though, lets hope history doesn’t repeat itself. More news is expected at the Mobile World Congress next month.Category: Android Tablets, Honeycomb, Toshiba
