A member of the Android team has confirmed on the U.S. website Computerworld that the Nexus One will soon be recieving Android 2.3. Upon the release of Froyo, the first smartphone to be upgraded to Android 2.2 was the Nexus One from Google and it seems that it will also be the first to be updated to Android 2.3 as well. Which only makes sense, one would think that Google would update their own smartphones pretty early on as they are developing the new versions of the OS and would know whether or not it will work on their own smartphones. Whereas other manufacturers like HTC and Samsung will have to go through their phones and check whether the newer versions of the OS will work correctly.
