The U.S. market research company eMarketer has stated in their latest publication that by 2012 Android will be the number 1 operating system in the U.S. market. While the Android market share only stood at 6% in 2009 by the end of 2010 it had reached 24%. By 2012 it is predicted that every 1 in 3 smartphones in the U.S. will be running on the Google OS. However the market research company did say that fragmentation could still be a problem for growth in the future.
