XING
DescriptionXING is the largest business network in Europe and is used all over the world. XING allows easy business networking for professionals making it easy to find contact information of business partners. XING now have their own app where the user can access their account via their Android device. Lets have a closer look at their Android application.
Functions & Design
When the user first starts up the application it will ask you to login into their XING account. The user will then be directed to the main menu of the application. Here the user will find at the top of the screen a navigation bar with four different buttons, the home button, Email button, Contacts button and the search button. Also on the homescreen the user will be able to see any status updates from his or contact lists and a tab showing the last profile visited.
In the contact section the user will find a list of all of their confirmed contacts as well as their unconfirmed contact requests. Either requests the user has sent to other people or requests they themselves have recieved. If the user accepts a contact request or vice versa the two contacts are then allowed to view each others profile, where they will find contact information, interests and a photo.
Through the settings menu the user can tweak with their search settings such as how many contacts are displayed per page when looking for a particular one. As well as changing the sort oder by first or surname. The user can also change various settings for their Inbox such as how many Emails to diplays per page.

ConclusionThe official XING application at the moment suffers from some performance issues, with the application sometimes completely freezing up. As a result a large portion of the user base is still reluctant to use the official XING application, with the mobile Web site offering a better experience. The app itself has plenty of features already on board however it has at the moment to many performance issues. Also it is currently missing a feature to synchronize the users XING contacts with their smartphone. Hopefully XING can address some of these issues in the future. We tested the app in version 1.0.21.
