The Text Battery Widget is minimalistic a widget, similiar to the Clockr (clock widget) and Calendr (calendar widget). For some, the little battery icon in the notification bar of our smartphones is not really enough to keep track of how much juice is left in the battery. That’s were the Text Battery Widget comes in, lets have a closer look at it.

Functions & Design

The Text Battery Widget, has a very simple design, aiming to help users keep track of their battery life more efficiently by displaying the current percent of battery life left in text form without using much battery power to keep it running. The advantage of having such a simple widget on screen obviously is that it doesnt take up much space, displaying the battery life as a percent makes it much easier to decide how long the battery will last and the widget itself doesn’t look to bad.

When setting up the widget the user will be able to choose what language to display the text in. Currentlyit is only available in 10 languages, these being English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Dutch. The size of the widget is the standard size of 4 × 1. Users can decide on the transparency and colour of the background or whether or not to even include one. They can also decide whether or not the widget should specify when the Android device is being charged.

There is a paid version of the application available on the Android Market, which offers additional customization options. For instance users can select from different font sizes or colours, to personalize the widget and their homescreen.

Conclusion

If your want a widget to help you keep track of your battery life, Text Battery Widget is a safe bet. Not only does it have a good looking design but it doesn’t take up much space on your homescreen and it doesn’t require much battery power to run. The few personalization features it has onboard, are great for adapting it to nearly any wallpaper especially with the Paid version. It would be nice to have different widget sizes but nevertheless this is a very useful widget. We tested Text Battery widget in the version 1.3.4.
