    Android News

Recently the number of available Android Apps has officailly reached the 100,000 mark. Of course this is still only less than half of the iPhone-Apps currently available, with there being approximatly 250,000 different Apps in the Apple Store. However the growth rates speak clearly for the Android operating system, over the last 6 months the Android Market has increased in size by about 100%. If this trend continues, Android the current leader of the App-branch will be reaching similar figures to the total Number of Apps available.

However a problem could arise through the many different Android versions being used throughout the number of different mobile phones and Tablets available. Developers are thereby pressured into updating there Apps to be applicable with the current versions of Android. Thus increasing the developing expenditure for developers who have Apps with older versions whereas keeping costs the same for relatively new applications. Nevertheless more and more developers will start to jump on the Android bandwagon causing Google to make their operating system more attractive for programmers.

Thanks to Adobe air and the application possibilities linked with it for Flash on Smartphones, new Apps appear in this form nearly nevery day. These Apps in this form currently cannot be used with the iPhone. This first app generation is already very promising perhaps giving us a glimpse of how successfull it will be in the future.
