If someone wants a picture on their Android homescreen they typically just use it as their wallpaper. But there are other ways such as using widgets like the Android Photo Widget, which allows you the chance to place a widget with a photo or slideshow on your homescreen while you still have the wallpaper of choice on your homescreen.

Functions & Design

You can get the pictures from plenty of different sources, from your SD card, Google Image search or Picasa. Once you have selected which images you want to display, you can then choose which frame you want to border the widget. Then finally you will have to specify what size you want the widget to be, there are 9 different sizes in all to choose from.

If you choose to have a slide show in your widget then you can also decide the time interval between each photo. The smallest selectable time interval is 15 seconds and the largest being 1 hour. You can also specify if you want the slide show to have a random order or not.

Conclusion

Android Photo Widget is a good alternative to conventional wallpapers and offers you the chance to add a slide show feature to your homescreen. It’s a great way to personalize your homescreen that little bit more. Throw in all of its many customization options and you have one pretty good app. There is also free version of the widget available on the Android Market at the moment, however there are only 3 of the 9 widget sizes available from the full version.
