Glow Hockey is not the first Air Hockey Game on the Android Market. But with its colourful and vibrant design it really makes it stand out from the rest. Most people should know of, if not already played Air Hockey before. The goal of the game is to try to hit the puck into the opponents goal whilst defending your own. Glow Hockey appeared sometime ago on the Apple iPhone, with some success, but has it made the transition well to Android? Lets have a look.
Functions & Design
As soon as the player starts up the game he will see why this game is called Glow Hockey, because of the vibrant colour design used as the theme throughout the game. From the main menu the user can jump straight into the action, by pressing play and then choosing a difficulty.
There are four to choose from easy, medium, hard and insane. The difficulties scale very well, with easy, easing you into the game before putting your skills to the test on the harder settings. We recommend you work your way through the difficulties because unless you have the reflexes of an olympic table tennis player, insane is exactly that insane.
When actually playing a round the player will have to use touchscreeen controls to defend their goal with their paddle. The gameply can get pretty hectic, as the puck can get pretty fast and on harder difficulties the computer player is really, really good. When you score, “Goal” will come up on the screen and whoever gets to seven first, wins. Mid-game their is also a pause button the player can press to have a quick reprieve before jumping back in.
Back in the settings menu via the main menu, users can change the puck colour or their paddles colour. They can also choose to turn the sound, vibrate and particle effects on or off.
Glow Hockey is a great addition to the Android Market, making the transition to Android perfectly. This vibrant game is great for anyone from casual players to those looking for a serious challenge. The touchscreen controls react great and the sound and colourful graphic design really create a special atmospherefor the player. Throw in the fact the game is completely free and you have something pretty special. Sadly Glow Hockey currently lacks a multiplayer mode but perhaps developers will add this feature in a future update. But nevertheless this is a great game and we recommend you give it a try. We tested Glow Hockey in version 1.0.2.
